Kucinich Thanks the Early Cosponsors of H. Con. Res. 450
www.kucinich.us
Congressman Kucinich today [Aug 1st] wanted to list the names of all cosponsors of the ceasefire resolution he introduced in the House on July 19. H. Con. Res. 450 calls upon the President "to appeal to all sides in the current crisis in the Middle East for an immediate cessation of violence and to commit United States diplomats to multi-party negotiations with no preconditions."

The 23 original cosponsors were Neil Abercrombie (HI), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Emanuel Cleaver (MO), John, Jr. Conyers (MI), Danny K. Davis (IL), Bob Filner (CA), Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ), Maurice D. Hinchey (NY), Michael M. Honda (CA), Marcy Kaptur (OH), Carolyn C. Kilpatrick (MI), Barbara Lee (CA), Betty McCollum (MN), Jim McDermott (WA), Gregory W. Meeks (NY), James P. Moran (VA), Charles B. Rangel (NY), Bobby L. Rush (IL), Louise McIntosh Slaughter (NY), Hilda L. Solis (CA), Fortney Pete Stark (CA), Maxine Waters (CA), and Lynn C. Woolsey (CA).

In the next ten days, ten more Democrats joined the list: Peter A. DeFazio (OR), Sheila Jackson-Lee (TX), George Miller (CA), Major R. Owens (NY), Nick J., II Rahall (WV), Cynthia A. McKinney (GA), Gwen Moore (WI), Wm. Lacy Clay (MO), Lloyd Doggett (TX), and Nydia M. Velázquez (NY)

Kucinich expects the support for a ceasefire in the region will grow. In a July 26 interview with Democracy Now!'s Amy Goodman, Kucinich said, "I’m hopeful that as the American public continue to watch, aghast at the violence that is occurring both in the Palestinian areas as well as throughout Lebanon, as well as the attacks that are continuing on Israel, that people all over will say, 'Look, it's time for the US to step in and say, "Stop this." Let's bring everyone together. Let's in the short term stop the violence; in the long term, bring about a negotiated settlement involving all parties.' "

[DUCHESS NOTE: I'd like to convey a big, hearty THANKS to my district congresswoman, Nydia Velazquez, in co-sponsoring this important resolution. She is also a co-sponsor of Kucinich's US Dept of Peace legislation, which is in the House and Senate. Bravo DJK & Nydia!!]

HOW THE MSM IS FIXING ELECTIONS

[DUCHESS NOTE: As a solid supporter and volunteer of the Jonathan Tasini campaign for NY Senate, I find it so appalling that people at NY1 are deniging Tasini his rights as a legit candidate. Apparently NY1 has no sense of what is fair or right. True democracy and journalism has left the building in regards to NY1. They are now in the same paid or bribed league as the other corrupt corporate mainstream media. Which makes me wonder "who" bribed NY1 in keeping Tasini out of the debate?!? We New Yorkers should rally around Tasini and make phone calls to NY1 demanding he be on the debate. Do it today!]
