Lies, Sighs and Politics
Paul Krugman, NY Times
http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2007/06/08/1728/
In Tuesday’s Republican presidential debate, Mitt Romney completely misrepresented how we ended up in Iraq. Later, Mike Huckabee mistakenly claimed that it was Ronald Reagan’s birthday. Guess which remark The Washington Post identified as the “gaffe of the night”? Folks, this is serious. If early campaign reporting is any guide, the bad media habits that helped install the worst president ever in the White House haven’t changed a bit. You may not remember the presidential debate of Oct. 3, 2000, or how it was covered, but you should. It was one of the worst moments in an election marked by news media failure as serious, in its way, as the later failure to question Bush administration claims about Iraq.

[Duchess Note – Regarding Krugman’s article, we need to send emails to this journalist and tell him that Kucinich had a terrific plan for Universal healthcare BEFORE Edwards ever came up with one. DJK still has a terrific plan! Krugman talks of "bad media habits", well, he's also employing “bad media habits” by NOT mentioning ALL eight of the Democrat candidates. Time to deluge these journalists with emails and letters about Congressman Kucinich and the fine job he’s doing. He is pro-peace and never ever pro-war like Clinton. Many thanks to Linda Z in sharing these articles. Be peace………]

Biden Gets A Brief Iraq Moment

Although Senator Joe Biden took the lead weeks ago in calling for a 90-minute debate on Iraq among the presidential candidates, his plans to take part in a forum last night on that very topic were all but derailed by the Senate’s deliberation on the immigration bill.

[Duchess Note - Use the above link to go to the online NY Times article and select Dennis Kucinich's name in the 5th paragraph to see the video of Dennis Kucinich's remarks. Dennis begins by holding up a poster that says, "Peace, it's something we can create".]

Police Reunited
Rocky Mountain News

Synchronicity caps a run of five classic albums, each more popular than the one before it. “Every Breath You Take” is already on the way to icon status. The Police sell out stadiums and get the greatest reviews of their career.
