Message from AskNadler2Impeach Group – The “Not” Impeachment Hearings

You may have witnessed the House Judiciary Committee Hearings called by John Conyers to examine if the executive branch has overstepped its Constitutional mandate, otherwise known as the "not" impeachment hearings that took place for over six hours on Friday. There have been diverse reactions. Some agree with Conyers that this has been the most important hearing held by the HJC held during the 110th Congress. Others feel it was simply a way to give cover for the progressive members, delay any real action by the Democratic leadership and lead to continued inaction. Whichever impression or point of view you may hold, it is very important that those congressional representatives who participated be acknowledged, thanked, and encouraged to take the next courageous step–call for "real" impeachment hearings to begin.

Some of you have asked what to do next. That is a question that pro-impeachment groups and individuals all across the country are asking today. If you have a suggestion, please let us know. If you take steps to call or write Nadler or others on the HJC, let us know also.

The Democrats who presented statements at the hearings and should be contacted are: Dennis Kucinich, Robert Wexler, Bobby Scott, Zoe Lofgren, Sheila Jackson-Lee, Steve Cohen, Hank Johnson, Tammy Baldwin, Keith Ellison, Walter Jones, Brad Miller, and Maurice Hinchey.

Jerrold Nadler did ask some serious questions of Elizabeth Holtzman and Bruce Fein, two of the expert witnesses. Some found this encouraging, some were disappointed that it came so late, and a year after he was urged to support impeachment, by us and others, on these issues in particular. Nadler finally took this opportunity to begin asking some important questions. We will know if the answers will lead him to take the leadership position we have been asking him to do.

Our emails and calls to Nadler will let him know that we are still asking. You can reach any Representative at: (202) 224-3121 Call Jerrold Nadler at: in DC at 202-225-5635 or NY 212-367-7350 ... Thank you for all you do, AskNadler2Impeach.Org
