TELL THE SENATE TO STOP HURTING YOUR HEALTHCARE
Hard working families need relief from the rising costs of health care, not new legislation that could make our insurance less affordable, less accessible, and less secure. We need your voice to stop this flawed bill before it becomes law: http://go.care2.com/e/E92/AY/BhwO

The House of Representatives passed a federalized Association Health Plans (AHPs) bill that could will weak the protections your state provides for you, remove your right to appeal, and raise how much you pay for premiums. Now the Senate has to vote on this bill. Tell your Senators you oppose AHPs at: http://go.care2.com/e/E92/AY/BhwO

Touted as a "quick fix" for the millions of American families without healthcare, AHPs are only designed to serve the desires of a few small business and insurance brokers rather than actually reduce the number of uninsured Americans. If this bill becomes law, AHPs will be free to eliminate your right to appeal a denied claim, deny access to trusted healthcare specialists like ObGyns and cardiologists, and raise your premiums as much and as often as they wish. Let's remind the Senate what American families need most from our healthcare system: quality, affordable health coverage -- not band-aid solutions that cost us more and offer less protection and less coverage for vital services: http://go.care2.com/e/E92/AY/BhwO

QUOTE OF THE DAY ... We must be the change we wish to see in the world. Mahatma Gandhi

JOHN ROBERTS SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE HEARINGS - DAY II
Although Senator Specter - the Chair of the Judiciary Committee - stated Monday that he would not ask Roberts where he stood on Roe v. Wade, Specter devoted most of his questions to privacy and Supreme Court cases related to a woman's right to choose. Roberts refused to state whether he believes the right toprivacy includes a woman's right to choose as recognized in Roe v. Wade.

Equally troubling were Roberts' comments on precedent and the role of stare decisis (the concept that prior rulings should normally be followed), which did not take into account the very real fact that there is more than one way to dismantle Roe. In this coming session alone, the Supreme Court will take up at least two cases related to reproductive rights. The Supreme Court could render Roe v. Wade meaningless even without overturning the landmark decision. Roberts' answers to Sen. Specter's questions did nothing to give Americans confidence that, as Chief Justice, he would protect their fundamental freedoms.

Roberts continued to sidestep questions on privacy and choice asked by Senator Feinstein. Throughout Senator Feinstein's questioning, John Roberts refused to answer repeated, direct, fair questions about whether he believes the constitutional right to privacy includes the right to choose.
