NEW AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON DEPT OF PEACE CAMPAIGN – WHAT WE AMERICANS CAN DO TO PROMOTE THIS BILL IN CONGRESS AND THE SENATE

During a fascinating and detailed Peace Alliance conference call on November 1st, Senator Mark Dayton from Minnesota informed us that this week he’ll be sending out a “Dear Colleague” letter to his 99 fellow Senators. This letter will inform his colleagues in the Senate that he has introduced the Dept of Peace and Non-Violence Bill (S.1756) and that he would like their support. Senator Dayton spoke very highly of the work we [ie: Peace Alliance & Dept of Peace campaign] are doing and was grateful of us, (as we are of the senator) for pursuing peace. He also said that next week would be a vital time to call our Senators and inform them of the bill and ask that they educate themselves on it. Senator Dayton provided us with contact info for one of his staffers as well. He suggested we share her name with our respective Senators. Contact Kimberly Jackson in Senator Dayton’s DC office.

Mark your calendars for next week and call - call – call

If you live in NY State or NYC, here are the numbers to call

Senator Clinton: 202 224-4451
Senator Schumer: 202 224-6542

[NOTE: The above piece was written by NYC Dept of Peace board member Kevin Fagan and edited by the Duchess.]
