BUSH'S IMPERIAL PRESIDENCY
Jim Hightower, Hightower Lowdown
The Bush administration has pushed hard for limitless powers to spy on, imprison and torture American citizens in the name of 'security.' Is this really what America stands for?

Jan Frel, AlterNet
With gas prices at an all-time high, Democrats, Republicans and President Bush are all quick to point blame. But they're ignoring the biggest offender: all of us.

MESSAGE FROM THE JONATHAN TASINI - NEW YORK SENATE CAMPAIGN - Three Important Endorsements

In the last two weeks, three New York chapters of the Progressive Democratsof America have made their choice in the U.S. Senate campaign: Jonathan Tasini For Senate. The three chapters--in Ithaca, Albany and the chapter covering the 14th Congressional District--are the first three PDA chapters to make their choice in this important race. All have chosen a real progressive Democrat whose campaign is growing every day. We are honored to have the support of PDA members. These endorsements are swelling the ranks of our grassroots campaign, which touches cities and towns throughout the state. Here's a bit from the Ithaca chapter's endorsement announcement:

"The members of Ithaca Progressive Democrats of America enthusiastically endorse Jonathan Tasini for U.S. Senate. Tasini, former President of the National Writers Union, is running on a platform supporting universal health care ("Medicare for All"); immediate withdrawal of US forces from Iraq; a Fair Trade policy that ensures environmental protections and workers' rights; and a massive national effort to invest in alternative energy. In June, Tasini supporters will be petitioning to ensure him a place on the ballot in the September Democratic primary vote for US Senate. Not a single member of Ithaca PDA voted for incumbent Sen. Hillary Clinton. Her record of enabling the war policies of the Bush/Cheney administration has been deeply disappointing to those of us who had hoped she might be a progressive Senator."

Stay tuned for more exciting developments in the coming days!

And in the meantime, if you want to give even more meaning to the PDA endorsements, back it up with a donation to the Tasini campaign by going towww.tasinifornewyork.org/donate This is our progressive New York: please give today going towww.tasinifornewyork.org/donate Then please send this request to your mailing list and ask that they give a $100 minimum donation. Thank you, from all of us, for all you do for the campaign.

Neil Young’s New Song - “Let’s Impeach the President”
[Duchess Note - Bravo Mr Young, you are a very patriotic dude.]

Let’s impeach the president for lying
And leading our country into war
Abusing all the power that we gave him
And shipping all our money out the door

He’s the man who hired all the criminals
The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors
And bend the facts to fit with their new stories
Of why we have to send our men to war

Let’s impeach the president for spying
On citizens inside their own homes
Breaking every law in the country
By tapping our computers and telephones

What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees
Would New Orleans have been safer that way
Sheltered by our government’s protection
Or was someone just not home that day?

Let’s impeach the president
For hijacking our religion and using it to get elected
Dividing our country into colors
And still leaving black people neglected

Thank god he’s cracking down on steroids
Since he sold his old baseball team
There’s lot of people looking at big trouble
But of course the president is clean
Thank God
