FROM THE PEOPLE AT VOTE TO IMPEACH BUSH -- RAMSEY CLARK LAUNCHES ON-LINE REPORTING SYSTEM FOR ELECTION FRAUD, MISCONDUCT AND DISENFRANCHISEMENT
We are urgently asking you to forward this email to a friend or family member and encourage as many people as possible, in every state, city and town, to participate in the emergency mobilization to report on election day misconduct, fraud or voter disenfranchisement. We have set up a non-line reporting form on our web site www.ImpeachBush.org so that people around the country can directly report any evidence and eyewitness reports of attempts to intimidate or turn away voters by the legions of Bush-employed "voter registration challengers" who are being placed in neighborhood polling stations in urban areas around the country on November2. The form on the web site is simple to use. It asks people to report about
1) misconduct by Bush's so-called "registration challengers" at polling places, and
2) people being turned away at polling places, and
3) largenumbers of people leaving polling places before they voted due to long lines and delays created by the "registration challengers."
We will take eyewitness reports and other testimony of election-day misconduct to the House Judiciary Committee for review and action. The House Judiciary Committee is the appropriate legislative body to initiate the impeachment process. "If widespread voter interference or vote fraud is traceable to high officials, it will be an important element in the impeachment struggle." stated Ramsey Clark in a message on October 28, 2004 announcing the election day on-line reporting system of criminal conduct by the Bush administration and its operatives. Stealing the election by disenfranchising the African-American community and intimidating elderly poll workers, and through the employment of other insidious methods, is another gross violation of the Constitution and the 1965 Voting Rights Act. The goal of the Bush team is not only to turn away individual voters but to create delays and long lines that would cause many other would-be voters togive up in their attempt to cast a ballot. Please join in this historic effort. Send this email to everyone you know and urge them to go to:

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSMAN DENNIS KUCINICH -- On Working to Elect John Kerry and John Edwards
Hi, everyone, Dennis here. Welcome to my back yard, in this season of change. And change this country must. We must move America - from a condition of war, from a condition where the wealth is being accelerated to the top, where we are relying on non-renewable energy - to a place where we can work towards peace, reconnect with the world community, have more equitable distribution of the wealth, save Social Security and Medicare, and make it possible for us to develop alternative energies which can help save the earth. We need to take a new direction, and I'm here to urge you to vote for John Kerry and John Edwards in this election. It is so important that you contact everyone you know and get them out to vote. This is the most important election in our lives. Many of you have been with me through the last couple of years on a long journey. A journey that went into the heart of this country. A journey that touched the soul of America. We were able to inspire this country as to the possibilities that America has for the future. We are now at the critical moment of choice, when we must exercise not just our right to vote, but exercise our vision - of taking America in a new direction, of giving America a new hope. John Kerry's election will give us a chance to make a new beginning.
And it's in that spirit that I'm here to urge you to do everything you can in the next few days. Everything that we are, everything that we've hoped for is on the line. Contact everyone you know - get them out to vote. Make it possible for John Kerry and John Edwards to give America a new chance. I'm so grateful to all of you for the support that you've shown over the last few years. And I continue to commit to work with you - for peace, and social and economic justice - not only for our country, but for the whole world. But we're at that moment, and we cannot shrink from the challenge which lies before us this coming Tuesday. You're the one who can make it happen. You're the one who can help begin the transformation of the American political scene. It starts on Tuesday with our vote. Please join me in voting for John Kerry for President and John Edwards for Vice President. Let's help America make a new beginning. Let's shed the fear which has gripped this country. Let's give America a chance for a new hope. Thank you, and I look forward to continuing our journey together as we move forward to harness the power of change - which is about to descend on this country and create a new beginning. IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE FOLK AT "WORKING ASSETS" REGARDING ELECTION DAY ON NOVEMBER 2ND -- BRINGING PHOTO ID IS TOP MOST PRIORITY
It's time! Unless you voted early, this Tuesday, November 2, is your opportunity to make your voice heard at the ballot box. Know that your vote really counts. Here are a few Election Day tips to help your voting experience go as smoothly as possible. Bring a picture ID. Many states have new identification requirements this year, so play it safe by bringing your drivers license or other official ID if at all possible. Go to the correct polling place. Many polling places have changed since the last election, and in some states, your provisional ballot will not be counted if you go to the wrong polling place. So check your polling place ahead of time by calling your local election office or reviewing your sample ballot. Call 1-866-OUR VOTE if you experience or witness a voting emergency. Lawyers will be standing by to provide free, immediate, on-the-spot assistance. Remember, you have the right to vote if you are in line before the polls close -- no matter how long it takes. There has never been a more important time to make sure that you vote and that your vote is counted.
IN CONJUNCTION WITH "WORKING FAMILIES E-ACTIVIST NETWORK" BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN SAYS "ROLL UP YOUR SLEEVES"
Want a stronger America? Good jobs, justice and hope? Then it's time to roll up your sleeves and get to work before Election Day, according to Bruce Springsteen. Here's the rest of Springsteen's message at the finale of the Vote for Change concert series:
"We remain a land of great promise, but it's time we need to move America toward the fulfillment of its promise that she's made to all its citizens. Economic justice. Civil rights. Protection of the environment. Respect for others. And humility in exercising our power at home and around the world. "These core issues of American identity are what's at stake on Nov. 2. I believe that Senator Kerry and Senator Edwards understand these important issues and I think they are prepared to help our country move forward." America is not always right. That's a fairy tale we tell our children at night before they go to sleep. But America is always true. And it's in seeking these truths that we find a deeper patriotism. Don't settle for anything less. "So we've got some work to do between now and Election Day. If you share our concerns, find the best way to express yourself, roll up your sleeves and get out there and do something. And remember--the country we carry in our hearts is waiting."
You heard The Boss. Volunteer for phone banks and precinct walks. Share candidate comparisons with other voters. Offer to take neighbors to the polls Nov. 2. And most important--VOTE. PERSONAL NEWS #40
[lots of photos too]
Back on Wednesday, October 13th, was the Organizer Meetup session [7pm] here in Manhattan. This two hour event [with refreshment] sponsored by folk at Meetup.com, was to help those who are organizers of particular meetups to do a better job and answer our questions. I am the new organizer for the NYC Friends of Kucinich [plus Sean Bean & Pearl Jam] group(s) and I definitely had some questions that needed addressing. Earlier that evening I met up with Ellen at a Starbucks. She told me about her weekend trip to Cleveland [Eric went with her] and helping out at the Dennis Kucinich campaign office. He's running again in his congressional district. Later on at the Organizer Meetup, many showed up for the session and I was in"group three". Lots of different "organizers" were there, by different I refer to their "interests or groups". Everything ranging from music, books, sci fi, finance and even Wicca’s. We all introduced ourselves and talked about our respective groups and also our concerns regarding meetup.com. Happily my few questions got resolved early on and I received some contact info too. The also served us an assortment of refreshment. Overall a most enjoyable and fascinating evening.
On Saturday, October 16th, I attended the second annual Brooklyn Peace Fair off of Atlantic Avenue. Some of my fellow Kucitizens [ie: Linda, Ellen, Cielito, Thomas, etc] were there volunteering at different tables and also in group discussions. [One was called "Brainstorming for Peace - Creatinga New Social Mindset.]
[Some of the Volunteers at Share International Team Table]
It was lovely seeing them all again. Hooked up with Thomas [enjoyed a delicious hug] at his NO TO BUSH table and picked up a few more nifty t-shirts. This time at a discount.
[Thomas and the Duchess wearing our "Got WMD?" t-shirts. On the back it says "Bush Lied"]
The folks at "The Indypendent" had a table and I picked up several recent additions of their newspaper. [Their website is http://www.nyc.indymedia.org] WorkingFamilies Party also had a table [http://www.workingfamiliesparty.org], as did the Socialist Worker people. There was also refreshment, terrific entertainment [ie: music, poetry, etc], political t-shirts and of course political buttons. Of the latter I purchased four new ones ... "Welcome Peaceful Political Activitists" ... "Dept of Peace - Patriots are never Silent" ... "Dept of Peace - Peace is the Balm!" ... "Don't Blame Me! I Marched on Feb 15 2003".
[Part of the entertainment that day was a group of ladies known as the Dixie Missle Chicks. Here are a few of them posing for me.]
While at the event I met some of the NYC Dept of Peace people, which was a delightful surprise. It’s always cool putting a face with a name and more so for the Wednesday evening conference calls. The whole afternoon very inspiring ... as is evident from the photos above. Next day on October 17th, not only was it my birthday, but I also headed up to CT to visit my dear friend Katherine. Caught up on recent news and gossip. We drove into our ole hometown on the NY/CT border to browse through the annual Art & Craft Show. Before checking that out, we visited her Mom and then had lunch in town at a nice Chinese/Japanese place. The weather held up with some clouds, sunshine, cool and no rain. The show was enjoyable, as it is every year, but we didn't purchase anything. The prices were abit steep for our humble wallets. Did some shopping at a fabric store and also stopped at a Barnes & Noble before heading back to NYC. Before, during and after my birthday I received some great cards and gifts. Many thanks to those who are so thoughtful.
On Wednesday, October 20th, was my third participation in the NYC Dept of Peace conference calls. These take place every other Wednesday evening at 9pm. That evening the call attendees were ... Carol, Kevin, Coco, Dawn and myself. Topics of discussion were ... recap the Brooklyn Peace Fair, NYC DOP made $146 at their table during the fair, DC event in February 2005, training for non-violence and our next conference call with be discussing the November 2nd election.
And to wrap up this Personal News update ... I joined a new gym [LucilleRoberts] last week and there is a branch near my office. Need to get back into the groove and I haven't heard from my personal trainer in over a month.
Spent the past weekend down in DC/VA area visiting my good friends Nancie and Tim. [Took Friday off from work & utilized Amtrak.] They live west of Washington DC or about a 30 minute drive by car.
[Nancie & the Duchess at British Pantry Cafe]
It was such a nice weekend and they're so sweet, thoughtful and hospitable. Some of the highlights of the weekend were ... professional full body massage, utilizing jacuzzi/hottub, shopping, sushi for dinner, Tim's yummy quiche, lunch at a Thai place and a country inn, English afternoon tea, driving Tim's BMW Z3 sports car, checking out the towns of Middleburg/Georgetown. At the Red Fox country inn, Nancie and I noshed on a wonderful Peanut Soup recipe.
[Outside the Red Fox Inn - Middleburg, VA]
Of which the waitress kindly passed on to me and I'll be whipping it up myself this coming weekend. Nancie also informs me that the Red Fox Inn is haunted and a psychic friend of hers encountered one of the spirits in the ladies bathroom. Pretty cool ... huh?!?

CLINTON JOINS KERRY ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL IN PHILADELPHIA AND OTHER NEWS FROM THE KERRY CAMPAIGN -- ELECTION DAY IS FAST APPROACHING AND WE NEED EVERYONE VOTING DEMOCRAT -- PUT HOPE AND PEACE BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE --LETS KICK OUT THOSE WARMONGERING GREEDY REPUBLICANS.
Last week, Bill Clinton returned to the campaign arena. Today, he joined with John Kerry in Philadelphia and electrified a huge crowd of more than 100,000 people. I thought that his words today captured the spirit of this campaign and I wanted to share some of them with you:
"In the closing days of this campaign, John Kerry is going on being John Kerry -- talking about his hopes for America; his plans for America; his commitment to our security and our prosperity. Now, one of Clinton's laws of politics is this, if one candidate's trying to scare you, and the other one is trying to get you to think, if one candidate is appealing to your fears and the other one is appealing to your hopes, you better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope. That's the best. My fellow Americans, we can do better. And in eight days we're going to do better, with President John Kerry."
As we head into this final week of the campaign, the excitement is palpable. The crowds at rallies are growing exponentially, and by the time John Kerry or John Edwards take the stage, you can barely hear yourself think. I have seen a lot of campaigns, and a lot of big crowds, but I have never seen the intensity that is now on display. The polls are tight, but George Bush is on the ropes. He can't break 50% in any poll and this is very bad news for his campaign. That is a critical threshold for an incumbent president, because undecided voters tend to break for the challenger in the final days. His campaign is becoming increasing desperate, while we remain optimistic. We are feeling really good about where we are in this race. However, we still have our work cut out for us. All of us on staff are going to be working day and night until Election Day. If you can just commit yourself to volunteering a few more hours or contributing a few more dollars, together we can win this.

DELIGHTFUL COMMENTARY FROM PEARL JAM FAN LEANN ON RECENT APPEARANCE IN SEATTLE OF ED VEDDER AND MIKE McCREADY [PJ] AT A MICHAEL MOORE RALLY
Ed and Mike made a surprise guest appearance at the Michael Moore (MM) 'rally' at Key Arena in Seattle on Tuesday night [October 19th]. A crowd of 10,000 were treated to an opening set of Ed solo, performing "Hide Your Love Away," and "Don't Be Shy" before Mike joined him onstage to perform "Masters of War." Ed then remained onstage to introduce MM for his 'one man' show. Congressional Rep and Seattle Punk Rock Star [Jim McDermott] was also a featured guest, delivering a passionate plea for high voter turnout, particularly by those demographics who normally don't vote. He also touched on the potential loss of civil liberties if the Bush administration remains in office, as well as the continuing erosion of social programs.
[Eddie Vedder {with t-shirt in his mouth} Outside Letterman Late Show On Sept 30th]
[Mike McCready Outside Letterman Late Show On Sept 30th]
Before singing "Dont Be Shy," Ed mentioned something about covering a Cat Stevens song, 'cause he couldn't be here tonight.' In his introduction of MM, Ed made a comment about the "internets" and once MM took the stage, he repeatedly thanked Ed and Mike for coming out to the show. MM also related that he'd had a chance to meet Ed's four month old baby backstage, and that she was wearing a 'cute little t-shirt' that said 'I already know more than the President.' He also said, "And then she correctly pronounced 'nuclear.'" All in all, a very inspiring evening! Just two weeks before the election, it felt good to 'get my vote on' with a huge, enthusiastic, like-minded crowd.

We cannot allow a break in the resistance against the war, and we believe that possibilities for our future exist outside of the two options that we are being given during this presidential election. Those of you living in the NYC area, mark your calendars. Bring friends and join "Not In Our Name" group for a community gathering of opposition to the war and repression! When? November 2nd at 5pm on Election Day in Union Square [NYC]. Check out their website at:

THE "NOT IN OUR NAME" PLEDGE OF RESISTANCE
We believe that as people living
in the United States it is our
responsibility to resist the injustices
done by our government, in our names
Not in our name
will you wage endless war
there can be no more deaths
no more transfusions of blood for oil
Not in our name
will you invade countries
bomb civilians, kill more children
letting history take its course
over the graves of the nameless
Not in our name
will you erode the very freedoms
you hav eclaimed to fight for
Not by our hands
will we supply weapons and funding
for the annihilation of families on foreign soil
Not by our mouths
will we let fear silence us
Not by our hearts
will we allow whole peoples
or countries to be deemed evil
Not by our will and Not in our name
We pledge resistance
We pledge alliance with those
who have come under attack
for voicing opposition to the war
or for their religion or ethnicity
We pledge to make common cause
with the people of the world
to bring about justice, freedom and peace
Another world is possible and we pledge to make it real!
FASCISM, ANYONE?
Dr Lawrence Britt, a political scientist, wrote an article about fascism which appeared in Free Inquiry magazine, a journal of humanist thought. Dr Britt studied the fascist regimes of Hitler [Germany], Mussolini [Italy], Franco [Spain], Suharto [Indonesia] and Pinochet [Chile]. He found the regimes all had 14 things in common, and he calls these the identifying characteristics of fascism. The article is "Fascism Anyone?", Lawrence Britt, Free Inquiry, Spring 2003 on page 20. [Once you get to the bottom of those 14 characteristics you'll find yourself saying ... this sounds very familiar. Maybe a chill will run down your spine. Hum ... mon dieu ... sounds like King George II current regime in Washington DC.] Check it out here:

RECEIVED THIS FUNNY JOKE FROM A GOOD FRIEND IN FLORIDA -- MUCHO GRACIAS MI AMIGO
Clocks In Heaven
A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him. He asked, "What are all those clocks?" St. Peter answered, "Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move." "Oh," said the man, "whose clock is that?" "That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie." "Incredible," said the man. "And whose clock is that one?" St. Peter responded, "That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire life." "Where's Bush's clock?" asked the man. "Bush's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan."
SOME LATE BREAKING NEWS FROM OUR FRIENDS AT DEMOCRAT.COM -- CHECK IT OUT -- A REAL EYE OPENER ON BUSHIE REGIME -- THE REPUBLICANS WILL WORK EVERY DIRTY, NASTY TRICK IN THE BOOK TO STEAL THIS ELECTION -- REMEMBER 2000 -- DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!
Bush's Freudian Slip Reveals His Secret Plan for a Draft
Bush turned the tables Saturday on Sen. John Kerry , declaring 'the best way to avoid the draft is to vote for me,' and pledged to oppose mandatory military service. The Democrat stuck to domestic issues, blaming Bush for a shortage of flu vaccines. Kerry also opposes a draft and has suggested that re-electing Bush would greatly increase the prospects for one. The president, fearing that young voters will be swayed by the charge, fired back, 'The person talking about a draft is my opponent.' Campaigning in an area heavily dependent on the military, Bush said, 'WE WILL NOT HAVE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER ARMY' before correcting himself. 'Let me restate that,' he continued. 'We will not have a draft ... . The best way to avoid a draft is to vote for me.' Polls show that a majority of young voters believe Bush would reinstitute the draft, despite the resident's denials.

Red Alert! Gop Election Theft In Ohio!
Hesiod blogs, "This is extremely serious and urgent. Everyone must do whatever they can to expose this, help the Ohio Democratic party, and contact the DNC and the Kerry campaign -- immediately! This could literally swing the election! 'The Lucas County Democratic Headquarters was burglarized overnight, and three computers, including the party's main system, were stolen. The computers contained highly sensitive information, including the party's financial information, names and personal phone numbers of hundreds of party members, candidates, and volunteers. The computers also stored e-mails from candidates that included discussion about campaign strategy. A second computer, belonging to an attorney-volunteer working to ensure voters' rights, also was taken, officials said. The headquarters on 1817 Madison Avenue does have an alarm system that volunteers believed they set late Monday when they left.' The thieves knew exactly what to steal."

Florida Judge Hears Case Involving Destruction of 10,000 Mostly Black and Hispanic Voter Forms AFP
"A US federal judge started hearing a lawsuit calling for the inclusion on Florida's voter rolls of about 10,000 people whose registration forms were rejected because they were not properly filled out. Judge James Lawrence King told the parties he was putting the case on a fast track as the US elections are just over two weeks away. The AFL-CIO trade union and others have filed the lawsuit claiming that keeping people off the voter rolls because they did not properly fill out registration forms was a violation of electoral legislation. They claimed a disproportionate number of blacks and Hispanics were among those kept off voter rolls. King asked electoral officials to rapidly deliver a list of people whose registrations were rejected.

Jeb LIED About Felon Purge Warning
Florida's Herald Tribune reports Jeb "Bush said Friday that he was never warned about any problems before the list was released. But his denial contradicts a May 4, 2004, e-mail in which Florida Department of Law Enforcement computer expert Jeff Long describes how election officials told Bush the list needed to be abandoned. 'Paul Craft called today and told me that yesterday they recommended to the Gov that they 'pull the plug,'' on the voter database, Long wrote in an e-mail to his boss, Donna Uzzell. Long added that state election officials 'weren't comfortable with the felon matching program they've got.' 'The Gov rejected their suggestion to pull the plug, so they're 'going live' with it this weekend,' Long wrote." Jeb is lying - IMPEACH Jeb now!

LAST NIGHT KERRY BROUGHT IN THE THIRD AND FINAL DEBATE VICTORY - COMMENTARY FROM JOE LOCKHART
Last evening the third and final presidential debate came to a close. During these debates, John Kerry has left no doubt that he has the strength and character we need in a commander in chief. He has shown the American people his command of the facts, steady demeanor, and well reasoned arguments. He offered hope and optimism, and showed that he will fight for middle class families. The Bush campaign has tried to lower the bar for each debate. But the bar can only go so low. The bottom line is, when it comes to the concerns of the middle class, George Bush just doesn't get it-- doesn't know how to talk about it -- and has no way to fix it. While he offered nothing but more of the same tired rhetoric -- John Kerry presented real solutions to real problems. That's the reason why John Kerry won and George Bush lost -- lowered expectations and spin from the Bush campaign will not change this. Tonight George Bush's denials further damaged his credibility. He denied we have problems with immigration, No Child Left Behind, equal pay for women and the minimum wage. Bush pretends our problems don't exist, and he won't level with the American people. Again, we need your help to keep the Republican spin machine in check. After three debates you know what you need to do -- let's go out there and do it. Here is what you can do:

PERSONAL NEWS #39
Howdy All & Welcome back to another update with the Duchess. Back on October 3rd [my sister-in-laws b-day] I headed into Manhattan to check out an Art Fest at Gracie Mansion. On the way there I ran into Bill [fellow Kucitizen] manning a Nader table near an upper eastside subway stop. Hadn’t seen Bill since August so we chatted for abit. I’d never been to Gracie Mansion, which is off of East End Avenue around 86th Street. It was such a lovely, sunny day and such perfect autumn weather. Got to Gracie Mansion and NO Art Fest! Very disappointing! Instead I strolled around the delightful park [sorry, cannot recall the name of it] which overlooks the East River. Afterwards I walked briskly west along 86th Street to Fifth Avenue and then down to 65th Street or so. That’s where the Central Park Zoo is located. We employees at E&Y received free passes to the Zoo that weekend and I took advantage of the offer. Haven’t been to Central Park Zoo in like 12 years. It’s a small zoo and doesn’t take long to check out. I especially enjoyed viewing the Sea Lions, Marmosets and Baboons.
On Wednesday, October 6th, I participated in a conference call with other NYC Dept of Peace members at 9pm. Those on the call were … Carol, Kevin, Dawn, Coco, Ellen, Karen, Liz, Lynn and I. Topics of discussion were: working on a fundraiser for either Nov/Dec, February 2005 trip to Washington DC and mentioning of the 2nd Annual Brooklyn Peace Fair. [Fellow Kucitizen Cielito Pascual will be speaking at the Brooklyn Peace Fair.] To find out more about our group, go to:

Brief notes regarding the monthly NYC Friends of Kucinich, which took place on Thursday, October 7th, and held at the "The Belt Theater & Bar" on 336 West 37th Street. Those in attendance were Kenny, BC, Emily, Ellen and I. Discussions ranged from universal healthcare, details on October 10th meeting with Dot Maver and Kucinich for Congress meetup groups. We also touched on the pros and cons of the Meetup.com organization and finally on DJKs upcoming birthday bash in Cleveland. Of which Ellen and Eric were going to attend. Hope to have news of their trip online soon. Stay tuned.
Brief write-up on meeting with Dot Mavers [National Campaign Mgr of the DJK 2004 Presidential Campaign] on Sunday, October 10th, at the 11th Street Bar in East Village. Those who showed up to meet with and have discussions with Dot were: Danielle, Nickolai, Tim, Gloria, William, Cielito, Paul, Albert, Linda and myself. It may seem like a small turnout, but it really worked in everyone’s favor, as we were able to have some terrific discussions. Dot Maver is a wonderful, congenial, intelligent and personable lady. She answered many of our questions regarding Dennis' presidential campaign and also how the situation was progressing for his congressional run. Some good news ... $17,000 was raised during Dennis' birthday weekend ... 11 states have now signed on to the Department of Peace, with Wisconsin being the most recent. Sincere thanks to ALL 11 states for their inspiring and wonderful efforts. Dot also mentioned the "Peace Alliance Foundation" [501 C4-C3]. Also the major issues on DJKs platform that we Kucitizens should focus on and keep in the forefront ... Healthcare, Peace & Civil Liberties. Announcement was made that the Department of Peace is holding a three-day event/forum in Berkeley, CA and that Dennis will be speaking at it. The dates are November 5th, 6th & 7th. To find out more contact their website at:
http://www.dopcampaign.org
OR email the DOP at ... info@dopcampaign.org. There was also mention of Thomas Frank's book called "What’s Wrong with Kansas?" and an interesting website:
http://www.actionforum.com
Overall it was a terrific and inspiring meeting. Afterwards I hung out with Linda and Paul. We drove back into Brooklyn to have dinner at a good/affordable Asian place in Bay Ridge and chat about politics. Then it was off to Paul’s place for cookies and tea, plus more political talk.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM DEMOCRATIC PARTY REGARDING SINCLAIR'S ANTI-KERRY SMEAR ATTACKS -- LETS WORK TOGETHER TO NIP THIS UN-AMERICAN AND UN-PATRIOTIC "DOCUMENTARY" IN THE BUD
The Sinclair Broadcasting Group, a conservative broadcasting company that runs television stations in dozens of major television markets nationwide, has ordered its stations to preempt other programming and air an anti-Kerry program days before Election Day. The so-called "documentary," called "Stolen Honor," was written, produced, and funded by extreme right-wing activists. Sinclair is using its reach to broadcast a blatantly political and false message while disguising it as "news." And this isn't the first time the Sinclair corporate office has compromised the journalistic integrity of its stations. It ordered ABC affiliates not to air a nonpartisan tribute to our fallen U.S. soldiers, fearing the consequences for George W. Bush. It has refused to run a DNC ad that challenged Bush for citing faulty intelligence about Iraq. And Sinclair and its executives have contributed thousands of dollars to Republican causes and the CEO has given the maximum donation to Bush-Cheney 04. Sinclair Broadcasting is using its television stations to disguise right-wing smears against John Kerry as news. The Democratic Party has filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission to protest this illegal corporate contribution to the Bush campaign. But we need your help to stop this right-wing attack on John Kerry. An overwhelming outcry from the public may be the only way to stop Sinclair from forcing these smears onto the airwaves. There are two ways that we need to take action immediately:
1. Call Sinclair's affiliates. Click below for a list of phone numbers for Sinclair stations. Call them to let them know what you think about their decision to air untrue smears about John Kerry just before Election Day.

2. Sign our petition. Click below to sign our petition demanding that Sinclair take their negative smears off the air.

Addendum: I mentioned that it was "baffling" that Bush "brought up the Dred Scott case, apropos of nothing, and he stumbled even to describe that crucial pro-slavery decision." Many bloggers and e-mailers have notified me that it really is not so baffling, after all. Unbeknownst to me, the Dred Scott case has been seized upon by anti-abortion zealots, who compare it to Roe v. Wade. See:

It's amazing that Bush went to such a length to send a coded message to his anti-choice supporters. And it's a grave insult to African-Americans to compare the unique horror of being a slave to that of being an aborted embryo or fetus. Read more of this article at:

MESSAGE FROM JOE LOCKHART AT THE JOHN KERRY PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN ON LASTNIGHTS 2ND DEBATE -- ANOTHER SCORE FOR KERRY -- TIME TO CLEAN OUT THE FILTHY WHITE HOUSE
Two presidential debates and two clear wins. John Kerry is going to be the next president of the United States, and more people know it now. Last night, George Bush had another chance to make his case to the American people. Again he failed. Again, he showed that he is out of touch with reality on Iraq. Again, he offered no plan for jobs and no plan for cutting the cost of health care. Again, he pretended that our problems don't exist. Again, he refused to level with the American people. George Bush just doesn't get it, so he can't fix it. John Kerry held George Bush accountable for the failures of the last four years. He demonstrated the strength and character we need in a president. He made it clear he could lead as commander in chief. John Kerry offered real solutions to real problems. He told America the truth, and offered a plan for a fresh start on the economy, Iraq, and the war on terror. Simply put, he was presidential. Ironically, the president was not. Right now, I'm here on the front lines in St. Louis. Down the hall is what they call the"spin room." It is where Republican operatives are trying to put their best face on what was another clear victory for John Kerry. I've done this a few times before, and I can tell you firsthand that my job is a lot easier when our candidate has a big night like John Kerry did last night. I know, and more importantly John Kerry knows, how hard YOU are going to work to make sure the Bush campaign doesn't spin this debate. Here is what you can do:
1) Call into talk radio

2) Write local newspapers

IF YOU LIVE IN NYC AND ENJOY THEATER - THEN CHECK OUT A NEW COMEDY BY KEVIN RICE CALLED "AMERIKUS REX"
A brief summary of the play ... Ancient Rome battles the isle of Amerikus in this sexy, smart and funny satire. Into the historical background of backstabbing, blood lust and sexual intrigue enters Cornelius, an exile for ten years on the isle of Amerikus. The influence of his banishment is immediately apparent from his business suit, cowboy hat and bizarre and broken Latin spoken with a southern accent. His "Amerikanization" forments further conflict within his already troubled royal household. Much more than mere Bush-bashing, this scathing satire takes our present political climate to the Rome of 13 AD.

In the run-up to next month's presidential election, American musicians ranging from Bruce Springsteen to Bright Eyes to Babyface have produced a new wave of protest music and political activism to mobilise the masses against G.W.Bush. The only thing more awesome and unprecedented than their unity is what they're up against.

JOE LOCKHART COMMENTS FROM KERRY/EDWARDS CAMPAIGN ON LAST NIGHTS VP DEBATE
We're two for two. Tonight, in Cleveland, John Edwards showed real strength and conviction -- he was in command of the facts and in control of the debate and a powerful advocate for John Kerry. The American people saw John Edwards as somebody who is ready, if neccessary, to be president of the United States. Dick Cheney is totally out of touch with reality in Iraq and totally out of touch with the struggles of the middle class. This is nothing new to a man with a lifetime record of protecting the powerful and well-connected. He came across as smug, arrogant, mean and defensive -- but his trademark distortions and scare tactics didn't work.
John Edwards refused to let him play the politics of fear and forced Dick Cheney to confront his administration's record of failure. Americans are tired of growls and scowls from our leaders, and John Edwards and John Kerry offer America hope and optimism. The Bush-Cheney campaign is already trying to spin the debate. I am here in Cleveland, right now, working to make sure that doesn't happen. Tonight my job is going to be a lot easier than my Republican counterparts for three reasons. First, John Edwards is our candidate for vice president, second Dick Cheney is theirs, and third I know that you are going to join me in this critical fight. Here is whatyou can do:
Vote in online polls The Bush-Cheney campaign has asked their supporters to vote in online polls. Don't let them distort the polls like they distort their record.

COMMENTS FROM THOMAS GALLAGHER AT NOTOBUSH.COM REGARDING THE "POLLS"
The polls are being kept artificially close to insure that when the republicans attempt to steal another election - they will be able to point to those polls to back up their "it was sooooo close" bullshit. Kerry is already ahead, and is pulling further ahead everyday through the efforts of people registering voters all over the country. The republican voting minority in this country has never had the numbers to actually win, this is why they re-district Texas, re-call the governor in Enron bankrupted Kalifornia, and are now trying to cancel votes over the weight of ballot paper stock in Ohio (where Dems are now registering over republicans at a rate of 10:1). Less votes means they can bullshit better. Can't wait for November 3rd.

KERRY-BUSH DEBATE REVIEWS ARE IN
The post-debate reviews are in and the winner of last night's debate is clear:
"I think that Kerry did a good job." (Sen. John McCain, MSNBC, 9/30/04)
"Kerry was forceful and articulate." (Bill Kristol, Fox News Channel, 9/30/04)
"We saw Bush smirking...Kerry was more poised." (Wolf Blitzer, CNN, 9/30/04)
"Kerry's done a good job of becoming Mr. Homeland Security." (Jon Meacham,Newsweek on MSNBC, 9/30/04)
On Thursday our entire country saw John Kerry show the strength and conviction that Americans expect in our president. He offered clear plans for Iraq and for fighting terrorism, while George Bush merely delivered the same shallow promises which have become the hallmark of his administration. John Kerry did his job last night, now its time for you to do yours. Winning this debate is not winning the election -- there are two more presidential debates and one vice presidential debate. With one month left, there is still a lot of work to do. After last night's debate it is clear that this election is about a choice between a stronger America or four more years of George Bush's bad choices. You've already made one choice by becoming part of the largest grassroots political movement in history. You have another choice to make -- what will you do between now and Election Day? How about making a contribution:

PEARL JAM LIVE ON LETTERMAN LATE SHOW - September 30th - Playing The Bob Dylan Song "Master Of War"
http://homepage.mac.com/jeffgarden/PJ-MastersOfWar.mpg
Personal News #38
Yesterday, September 30th, I took a vacation day from work, so that I could hangout with Andrea at the Letterman Show stage door all afternoon. Why you ask? Well ... I tell you my dear readers ... my fav band [Pearl Jam] would be appearing on Letterman's LATE SHOW. [Since both of us wouldn't be able to go to any of the "Vote for Change" mini tour gigs, we decided this would be our PJ fix for the year.]
I arrived at the Ed Sullivan Theater, where Letterman Show is taped, atabout 12:10pm and went straight to the box office. One doesn't purchase tix, but you fill out a form, talk to an individual who questions you and then around 2pm they do a "lottery" pick. The theater only holds about 400 people and its 2 tix per person. I checked my office voicemail [via Andrea's cellphone] a few times after 2pm, but no message from the Letterman Show. Sigh! After completing the box office process, I stopped by Ranch 1 for a light lunch and it was awful.
Then I went to hangout near the stage door on West 53rd Street. There were already a few fans hanging out when I arrived. The weather wasn't looking or feeling so great and it actually rained for awhile. Good thing I listened to 1010 WINS for the weather update and brought my umbrella. Learned from the two chaps [Phil is from Long Island & the other chap is from NJ] that John Travolta was tobe the only guest that day. Already knew that Pearl Jam was slated as music guest. The two gals [Kat is from Long Island & the other lady hails from CT] are Pearl Jam fans and sounds like they've both been following the bands career for a long time.
I was waiting for Andrea to show up, which she did around 1:30pm. Hurray! Good to see her & we caught up on some news/gossip! Poor dear was at a different entrance, at first. Security finally put up the barricades near the stage door and more fans showed up. Half for Travolta and half forPearl Jam. As the afternoon wore on the standing around was getting to my poor lower back. But it was all worth it for many brief looks et al of my fav band and even Travolta. The minutes ticked on and on ... we heard that the taping of Thursday nights show is slated to begin at 4:30pm and run to 5:30pm. The band members finally showed up around 3:45pm in two large, black SUVs. Boom, Stone and Jeff exited the vehicles quickly and into the theater. Sadly I didn't see my darling Jeff, as my attention was diverted to the second SUV. [Another PJ fan (Brian) said Jeff looked cool with his blond spiky mohawkish hairdo.] Mike got out of second SUV first and started to sign autographs. [He looked great, wearing sunglasses & sporting blondish hair!] I managed to get a pix of him, but wasn't able to get one of Ed or Matt. After they all entered the theater Andrea and I were happy to see the band members up close, but bummed that we missed Jeff. He is our fav and quite the hunk.
[Eddie Vedder (white t-shirt in his mouth) Heading For Limo After Taping Letterman Late Show With Pearl Jam. The Duchess Is The Redhead To The Right Of Shot.]
We then waited about 10 minutes or so, when John Travolta's large, black SUV showed up. Poor Andrea and I almost got crushed by the fans who were shoving photos at Travolta to sign and taking photos. Even some of the paparrazzi was there [on other side] taking loads of pix. Andrea told Travolta that she'd had a crush on him since he did GREASE. That pleased him ... he gave her a hug and kissed her cheek. Wow! Was she thrilled for quite some time and trembling like a leaf. Seeing him in person didn't disappoint me. He comes across as very congenial, about my height [5'10"], close cropped hair, blue eyes, trim in figure and nicely dressed. [Dark suit with blue shirt.]
Then came another long wait while the taping of the show was going on. [Andrea & I did exchange email addresses with a few other PJ fans (Kat/Brian/Phil). Exchange photos, etc.] One of the PJ fans spotted manager Kelly Curtis and asked him which song the band would perform. He told us it was to be "Masters of War". Hell yeah!! The bandmembers are definitely NOT fans of Bushit & Co. Progressive Democrats baby! Around 5:15pm John Travolta left the theater, after finishing his segment with Letterman, and proceeded to sign more autographs et al. This time around I did manage to get a pix of him. Even tho poor Andrea and I were being crushed by the onslaught of fans.
[Pearl Jam at Reading, PA on October 1st. From L to R ... Boom, Mike, Matt, Jeff [sigh!], Eddie and Stone. Keep on rocking in the free world guys ... your the best!]
Then it was another 20 to 30minute wait before PJ left the theater. By 5pm there were also fans across the street waiting for glimpses. Finally our lads exit the building with Stone in front and Jeff behind him making a mad dash for the first SUV. I caught a long glimpse of dear Jeff and he was wearing that damn knit hat. Other than that he looked so cute. Then Mike came out, signed a few autographs and then he looked right at were Andrea and I [two dozen plus fans behind us] stood to take a pix with a disposible camera. I flashed him a wide eyed, happy smile and as he walked close by me towards the SUV, I patted him on the shoulder and said "looking good Mikey". Then following Mike was Ed and as security was ushering him towards the second vehicle I got a pix of him with a t-shirt in his mouth. [smiling] When I turned around there was PJ drummer Matt Cameron. He was just standing there waiting to get through, so I started up a brief conversation. He's very personable and seemed abit surprised, at first, that a fan was talking to him. I said "Hey Matt, looking good man" and he said "why thank you very much". I then asked him "are you looking forward to the gig in Reading tomorrow evening" ... he replied "Reading? Oh yeah, Reading, definitely". I then rounded up the conversation with "I heard the two Boston gigs were totally kick-ass shows" ... to which he replied "oh yeah, they were great, really amazing". As he started to walk away I said"Matt, take care and keep up the good work". To which he just smiled at me. I know its not earth-shattering chatter, but hey, I enjoyed it and I think Matt did too. As the SUVs rolled away we waved.
Overall ... it was an interesting experience. Andrea and I hung out with a few other fans[Phil/Brian/Kat] before heading to the subway. Hope to have some pix to post on the Duchess page within a few weeks, so stay tuned...........
MESSAGE FROM THE JOHN KERRY CAMPAIGN REGARDING LAST NIGHTS DEBATE
Last nights debate was a decisive victory for John Kerry because Americas aw him as our next president. He showed strength, conviction, and a steady command of the facts. He offered clear plans for Iraq and fighting terrorism. George Bush has a record of failure to defend, and he failed to defend it. The president just gave us more of the same shallow promises. However, the Republican spin machine is already hard at work. The Kerry campaign needs your help to beat back their distortions. Right now we need you to contact the media and speak your mind. Contact national media using the link below and remember to emphasize the points above:

GREAT COMMENTARY FROM A FELLOW NYC KUCITIZEN
Hi All … I have been a supporter of Dennis since June 2003 when I first heard him speak. I also was an active volunteer from August 2003 till the DNC. While I still support Dennis and will continue to do so for 2008, I feel that there is a much bigger priority right now. I am not alone in that feeling. Dennis Kucinich himself is the person that inspired that feeling in me. I have known since I first heard him speak that he is the best person to lead this country. Unfortunately, the majority of U.S. citizens are not ready for his ideas. Knowing he is the best one, having faith in his judgment, knowledge and experience, I am putting my trust in what he has been encouraging his supporters to do. I heard what he said at a rally in the streets of Boston at the DNC. He said that "John Kerry is THE ONLY choice that we have now and his emphasis was on THE ONLY (he said it twice). I am trusting his judgment. I too am not thrilled with Kerry but our first priority needs to be (as Dennis states) to get this administration out of office. This is not the time to make a statement by voting for a 3rd candidate. The time to change from a two party system is not now. In the future, yes, after we get them out but not now. This is a critical time for this country and the world (since they are deeply affected by what this government does). We cannot afford to take a chance on this administration being in office another four years. Lives are at stake. I have total faith in Dennis' belief that the Democratic Party can be changed from within. It is because of my support of and belief and trust in Dennis that I am listening to what he is saying and that is that we need to make certain that John Kerry is elected. We have exactly one month and one day to do this as of this writing. As important as all of the other areas are (eg. DOP, PDA etc.), most of these can be put on the back burner for the short period of time that we have left before the election. While I want to be a part of the DOP and PDA, my focus for this time period will be to do what I can to help Kerry get elected. I hope that some of you will join in this effort. What I don't understand is why some DK supporters, (who still follow his messages and who will work to help him win his congressional seat back), will not listen to or trust him in what he is saying about Kerry. Please, if you love and trust Dennis as I do, read or reread what follows, this is what Dennis wrote. [See link below] I implore you to do so and to trust in what he says. Please pass this along.
