DELIGHTFUL COMMENTARY FROM PEARL JAM FAN LEANN ON RECENT APPEARANCE IN SEATTLE OF ED VEDDER AND MIKE McCREADY [PJ] AT A MICHAEL MOORE RALLY
Ed and Mike made a surprise guest appearance at the Michael Moore (MM) 'rally' at Key Arena in Seattle on Tuesday night [October 19th]. A crowd of 10,000 were treated to an opening set of Ed solo, performing "Hide Your Love Away," and "Don't Be Shy" before Mike joined him onstage to perform "Masters of War." Ed then remained onstage to introduce MM for his 'one man' show. Congressional Rep and Seattle Punk Rock Star [Jim McDermott] was also a featured guest, delivering a passionate plea for high voter turnout, particularly by those demographics who normally don't vote. He also touched on the potential loss of civil liberties if the Bush administration remains in office, as well as the continuing erosion of social programs.

Before singing "Dont Be Shy," Ed mentioned something about covering a Cat Stevens song, 'cause he couldn't be here tonight.' In his introduction of MM, Ed made a comment about the "internets" and once MM took the stage, he repeatedly thanked Ed and Mike for coming out to the show. MM also related that he'd had a chance to meet Ed's four month old baby backstage, and that she was wearing a 'cute little t-shirt' that said 'I already know more than the President.' He also said, "And then she correctly pronounced 'nuclear.'" All in all, a very inspiring evening! Just two weeks before the election, it felt good to 'get my vote on' with a huge, enthusiastic, like-minded crowd.
