Letter from a Caucus Goer
January 20, 2004
Dear Representative Kucinich and Staff

I wanted to let you know about last night's events in our precinct, which I found to be truly remarkable and heartening. I am an administrator and teach history at a private Quaker high school near West Branch, Iowa. We are a small school, but we brought one third of our students to our local caucus last night in addition to about half of our staff.

Out of the seventeen students who attended the caucus last night, nine registered to vote, all for the first time. Of those nine new voters, eight of them caucused for you. Because of these students, the Kucinich group was able to win three delegates, and without these students we would not have been a viable group. Instead we would have fallen at 38 caucusers supporting you, which is below the required 15% of of 44 people to gain viability. Because of these students (and the multiple staff who caucused for you), we were able to send three delegates out of the state's total of 39, and without them we would not have been able to have a viable group in our precinct. I'm very proud of my students, and wanted to share my enthusiasm about their commitment with you. Thank you so much for all that you continue to do, and good luck in New Hampshire!

Sincerely,

Heather Godley
