Congressman & Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich will be interviewed on WBAI [99.5FM - radio] ... Tuesday, March 2nd at about 9:20pm EST for about 10 minutes.

News Flash ... Reports From The "NYC Friends Of Kucinch" Volunteer Base
On a more somber note, this past week, five of our devoted volunteers were arrested and held overnight by the NYC Police Department [Imperialist Pigs] while "wheatpasting Kucinich posters". Perhaps most disturbing, while in custody, the volunteers were taunted as "Iraq Lovers" by officers on duty at New York's 9th precinct. [Bloody Pigs - Down With Bloomberg & Pataki] A hearing on charges will be held in mid-March. Bud Plautz, Electoral Law Coordinator for NYC Friends of Kucinich, has graciously offered his legal assistance. Thank you Bud!

Personal News - Part III

And the saga continues with much fanfare. . . . . . . .alright. . . . . . .alittle bit of fanfare.

A week ago Sunday, February 22nd, on a sunny tho cool day I headed to Manhattan's upper westside for some Kucinich volunteer duties. Of which, I might add, I happily signed up for during the "NYC Friends of Kucinch" General Meeting back on 18th. Our group was giving a campaign fundraiser up at Synod House, which is part of the St John the Divine cathedral on West 110th Street. [Fundraiser was organized by Hugh Gosman & event netted roughly $6,000 for campaign!] The cathedral is huge and from what I've heard ... its still being worked on a 100+ years after it first commenced. Let me tell you ... walking up 110th Street from the subway [exit at northwestern corner of Central Park West] and gazing at the cathedral, well, I was very impressed. The cathedral and surrounding area are quite nice and has a charm all its own.

I arrived shortly after 12 noon and connected with Jane to find out what my duties were to be. There were several other volunteers already there ... such as Robert, Larry, Lawrence, Paul, Chris and a few others who's names I sadly cannot recall. Naughty me. At first I was helping Larry with sound cable setup, then taken off that job to set up chairs and coat racks. Then over to the front entrance of Synod House to setup the tables for guests upon arrival. In the middle of all this some folk brought in pizza's and we all took a break to nosh. Yummy pizza! From 3pm on to 8pm or so my remaining duties were to help out with the food tables. [Setting up, distributing to paying guests & finally cleanup.] This was on the lower level of the Synod House at far end near kitchens. The middle to front section of area housed the artwork on display, so that people could make silent bids. Basically the Kucinich fundraiser featured this artwork and an assorted musical cabaret, plus speakers. Lots of fascinating displays of artwork by many different artisans and the procedures go to the Kucinich campaign.

At one point I did get a short break, so that I could go upstairs to see some of the cabaret. It was pretty cool. As for visitors, well it was an eclectic selection of 250+. On the food and beverage tables we served up beer, wine, soda, water, potato chips, lentil pate, assorted veggies and a delicious array of fresh mexican dishes. Marvelous! Got to take some of the lentil pate home with me and its fantastic. During the course of the day I had funky conversations with guests and other volunteers. Especially memorable were some lively, stimulating conversations with Thom, Harry, Larry, Patrick, Mary and Chris. [Ahem ... Thom, you the man ... smiling.] After a brisk cleanup I left for the subway with two other volunteers between 9pm and 9:30pm. Got home at 10:30pm and all I have to say is "wow" great day.

More personal news updates coming soon ... stay tuned.

IF YOUR A PEARL JAM FAN, THEN READ ON AND BECOME A MEMBER OF BUGS NEWSLETTERS, STAY IN THE PEACEFUL GROOVE

Welcome to the Bugs-newsletter@igotbugs.net mailing list! Welcome to BUGS, the first and only European based Pearl Jam mailinglist! You are subscribed to the newsletter. If you want more mail, you can change your subsciption into the direct list or the digest. The address of our homepage is:
http://igotbugs.net

but it's under construction right now. All Pearl Jam websites can be found through our Pearl Jam Portal:

1] Why did we start this list in 1995?

First, 'we' were Jose Manuel from Portugal and Mirella from the Netherlands. We both were subscribed to other Pearl Jam mailinglists, and that is how we met. When Mirella had the idea of beginning a database with all European Pearl Jam fans in it, Jose Manuel kindly offered his homepage to put it on :). Then Jonas Frankki maintained the homepage (Thanks Jonas!), and right now a whole team is rebuilding it. This mailinglist, Bugs, is an addition to that database, to make it easier to exchange information, music and thoughts. It is for all Pearl Jam fans in Europe or elsewhere (with or without plans to visit Europe) who can receive e-mail. Through the years the Bugs list moved from the Netherlands to Ireland
(thanks Ronan), then to Belgium (thank you Evert), then to Italy, where Markus took care of it, and now we are based in Scotland in the safe hands of Martin Meldrum.

2] Europe only?

No, everybody is welcome. The main reason to start this list in 1995 was the European Pearl Jam tour of 1996. We wanted the database and this list to contribute to all of us who wanted to enjoy those shows. It was easier and more practical to maintain a small list than a worldwide one. But now, more than 8 years later, Bugs has grown up to a worldwide Pearl Jam mailinglist with subscribers in 35 different countries.

3] What is this list for?

The main goal is to bring people in contact, and to exchange information that is of interest for Pearl Jam fans. We want it to be possible for everybody to join. That is why, besides the DIRECT list, we also have a DIGEST; a way to get all posted messages in one message a day. For people who can't read it all but still want to be informed, there is the NEWSLETTER, made possible by Simon. He forwards the Pearl Jam news containing messages from Bugs to the newsletter, by hand. For subscription issues, look at the website. A link is posted beneath all Bugs messages. To post to this list, send your email to:
Bugs-newsletter@igotbugs.net
