Personal News – Part IV

Lots of cool, interesting, funky and exciting Kucinich presidential campaign events occurred over the past weekend here in NYC. All of it geared towards “Super Tuesday” in the primaries. [And yes, I placed my vote this morning with Kucinich and the three delegates in my congressional district. Interesting note, Kerry (Damn Imperialist) had NO delegates in my district, which brought a smile to my face. Hee Hee!]

On Saturday, February 28th, about 15 of us volunteers met up near the Farmers Market in Grand Army Plaza [chasing away the Edwards volunteers] at 1pm. We had banners, leaflets, buttons and a few percussionists to lend music to our Brooklyn Delegates March through Park Slope area. We mostly concentrated on Flatbush & 7th Avenue and was blessed with a lovely, sunny, blue sky, warm day. We started our march thru Park Slope at 1:15pm and finished up around 3pm. With our three percussionists playing a groovy beat … Thom got us chanting the following:

Money for Schools … Not for War!
Money for Jobs … Not for War!
Money for Healthcare … Not for War!
Dennis Kucinich … 2004!

Reactions from Park Slope residents were mostly positive, but there was the occasional negativity or hostile look. Many gave us the peace sign, thumbs up, passengers in cars honked horns and some even grooved to the beat of our percussionists. Some of the negativity is to be expected and didn’t mar our upbeat spirits. [A few people near flea market even shouted “f—k you”.] I was holding up a Kucinich banner and occasionally handing out literature (by Daniel Welch) I downloaded off of Internet. One of our volunteers, Ceilito, had a small camcorder and video taped portions of our march. [Which we watched part of later on at Bob G’s home.] Overall it was a successful outing and our group handed out most of the literature. By the time we strolled back to Bob G’s brownstone we were getting abit tired and in need of a restroom. Bob graciously invited us into his home to relax, use restroom and partake of refreshments. A lovely home that he shares with his wife and two children. About seven of us hung out for almost two hours talking about politics, Bill Moyers NOW program and other world topics. What an awesome day!

Stay tuned ... more personal news to follow. . . . . .
