KUCINICH ANNOUNCES NEW CAMPAIGN SECRETARY
For Immediate Release: February 4, 2004
In a graceful changing of the guard that exemplifies the spirit of his campaign, Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis J. Kucinich today officially announced that renowned journalist William Rivers Pitt has accepted the role of Campaign Press Secretary, taking on the responsibilities formerly held by David Swanson. William Rivers Pitt is a New York Times and internationally bestselling author of two books: ’War on Iraq: What Team Bush Doesn't Want You to Know', and 'The Greatest Sedition is Silence'. He is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and resides in Boston.
Before coming on board as Press Secretary for the Dennis Kucinich for President Campaign, Pitt served as the Managing Editor and Lead Writer for the online news magazine truthout.org. Pitt spent several years as a high school teacher of English Literature, Journalism, Writing, Grammar and History, and was also a dean.
Regarding Swanson, who resigned his position with the campaign, National Campaign Chair Dot Maver has this to say: ’David Swanson has helped build this campaign from a place of little money and recognition to one that is viable and visible. We are grateful for his hard work and for the many, many hours he has put in to help move this historic campaign forward'.
