Weekend News from NYC Friends & Volunteers of Kucinich Presidential Campaign ... Reported by Jessica

The Pace University Junior Statesman event was very "cool" in that we were represented by Thomas Gallagher who actually did a good job of penetrating the consciousness of an audience peppered with young Republicans sporting "Bush/Cheney" stickers... (who knew?). He spoke of how Kucinich's campaign is about empowering the American people including youth to get involved with the policies that will affect our future. He used the fact that he's a delegate and was being given a chance to present as an example of that. Hugh, Paul and I were there in support. Even before Thomas made his pitch, but especially after, we each had interesting conversations with various of the students, organizers, workers, or other presenters. One of the security guards, is an organizer of the Bangladesh Community, and he offered to help, taking a bunch of material. I have his contact info and am planning to keep him in our loop! One of the more interesting potential "converts", Councilman Bill Perkins was there stumping for Dean. He said that Dennis was the guy on the issues, and kind of danced around the "real" endorsement. He was there to push Dean, but he spent a lot of time speaking with us both before he went up on stage and again afterward.
