Tuesday evening, after an intense cardio workout at the gym, I headed downtown for a “March for Women’s Rights” meetup. [I very much enjoy meeting others to talk about similar interests & goals.] It was held at Mark Café on East 27th Street and about 10 folk showed up, one of which was a young fella. A few of the women are with NARAL Pro-Choice NYC and I’ve included the website for those interested.

These meetup’s are to organize and gather as many like-minded folk as possible to attend the April 25th march/rally down in Washington DC. [The rally starts at 1pm in The National Mall.] The last organized march/rally of this kind was back in 1992 when 750,000 folk attended. And before that there was a march/rally in 1989 with 500,000 in attendance. This time around there are high hopes of over 750,000 attending, especially with what the insane Bush Empire is doing to our rights. Many “March for Women’s Rights” organizations throughout the US are setting up buses et al for this April function. I urge others to become more involved. If you live in the NYC area, by all means contact Elizabeth at the following email address ... March@ProChoiceNY.org

The two-hour meetup was great, productive and very energized. Usually at some meetups I don’t say much, but observe what’s going on and discuss topics with individuals afterwards. This time around I was very vocal and contributed much to the meetup. At one point we got into an intense discussion on the Democrat candidates and I plugged Kucinich big time, as well as answer questions on his campaign platform. [Another gal was for Clark, but only because her fiancé supported him.] Towards the end of the meetup I engaged in conversation with two college students [ie: gal & fella] about Socialism. I truthfully admitted that I didn’t know much about the topic and always interested in hearing others views. They weren’t crazy about any of the Democrat candidates, but did feel that Kucinich was closest of all to Socialist views. Tho wary on his views on pro-choice, which I assured them he was all for it. [It would be awesome if Kucinich attended the rally in April.] They handed me a weekly newspaper called SOCIALIST WORKER and asked that I read it. We’ll exchange emails to discuss it.
